Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza on Sunday, January 7, refuted claims that her son was among those arrested in connection with the death of Meru blogger Daniel Muthiani alias Sniper.
Speaking during a church service in Meru County, Mwangaza affirmed that none of her family members had been arrested and termed reports suggesting so as propaganda.
In her speech, Mwangaza said that she was ready to present any of the members in her family if requested to assist in the ongoing investigations.
“Those reporting that my son has been arrested, its sheer propaganda, back to the sender and if there is any of my family members wanted for investigations, I will be ready to present,” she stated while addressing congregants at her church.
In addition, the Governor said that her political rivals were determined to malign her name and discredit her suitability for the Governor’s seat.
According to her, the recent tribulations and investigations targeting her close family members and aides were a continuation of the efforts by her rivals to clip her reign.
“They tried impeachment but in vain, they tried to file court cases, but it did not work too because the hands of your bishop are clean,” she added.
In a subsequent statement, Mwangaza further questioned the reluctance by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in investigating some Members of County Assembly (MCAs) in the county claiming to know persons behind sniper’s death.
