The Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary closure of Haile Selassie Avenue (CBD bound).
In a public notice on Friday, April 5, KeNHA said the road will be between Haile Selassie Roundabout and Parliament Road.
KeNHA explained that the road will be closed for two days to allow for installation of Service Ducts.
“KeNHA wishes to notify the public that there will be a temporary closure of Haile Selassie Avenue (CBD Bound Lanes) between Haile Selassie roundabout and Parliament Road,” read the notice in part.
“This closure is scheduled to commence from Friday April 5, 2024, at 10.00pm to Saturday April 6, 2024, at 5.00am.”
KeNHA Traffic Management Plan
The Authority provided a traffic flow with the alternative routes and the unaffected routes motorists can use during the two days.
Motorists can use the following routes: Uhuru Highway, Kenyatta Avenue, Harambee Ave, Parliament Road and Haile Selassie Avenue (Upper Hill Bound).
“KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” read another part of the notice.

Installation of UoN Underpass
The Authority commissioned the installation of the new University of Nairobi (UoN) underpass on March 31.
According to KeNHA, the underpass building units were precast out of site so as to minimize traffic disruptions on the highway.
“The new pedestrian underpass will be wider and equipped with security lights, to enhance safety and accessibility for the students and community at large,” the Authority said.
The installation works are set to be completed by Saturday April 6, 2024.
In another update on April 1, KeNHA said the construction and installation of the precast box culverts was quickly taking shape.
The Authority explained that the culverts, each weighing 30 tonnes, were being arranged methodically and with great care.
