Malava Member of Parliament (MP) Injendi Malulu is dead.
Sources allied to the family have revealed that the MP passed away on Monday, February 17, while receiving treatment at the Aga Khan University Hospital.

Earlier, social media was flooded with reports about the lawmaker’s health, with some claims suggesting he was severely sick.
On the other hand, In January 2025, the lawmaker was reportedly admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a leading hospital in Nairobi.

However, his family through Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa explained that he was in a stable condition
‘I want to assure our people that we have seen Honourable Malulu Injendi and he is recovering. Doctors have tried their best and they are continuing,” Barasa stated.

The Career of Injendi Malulu
Malulu first won his parliamentary seat in 2013 on a Maendeleo Democratic Party (MDP) ticket, marking the beginning of his political career in the National Assembly.
In the 2017 general elections, he successfully defended his seat under the Jubilee Party. Again in the 2022 elections, he retained his seat on an Amani National Congress (ANC) ticket.
Throughout his time in Parliament, Malulu has been actively involved in various legislative committees. Between 2013 and 2017, he served as a member of the Senate and National Assembly Cohesion Joint Committee, where he contributed to discussions on national unity and integration.
He was also a member of the Education Committee, playing a role in shaping policies related to the country’s education system.
From 2017 to 2022, he served in multiple key committees, including the Regional Integration Committee, the Labour Committee, and the Transport Committee.
Malulu was one of the most educated Members of Parliament, having been recognized among lawmakers with PhD degrees.
He was elected to Parliament under the former Amani National Congress, which later merged with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Before politics, he served as a lecturer at the Catholic University of East Africa.
In addition to his political work, he founded the Malulu Injendi Foundation, a non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting various community initiatives.

Education of the Malava MP
Malulu began his education at Lugusi Primary School, where he studied from 1974 to 1981 and completed his Class 7 Certificate of Primary Education (CPE).
He then attended St. Ignatius Mukumu Boys’ High School for his O-Levels between 1982 and 1985, before moving on to St. Peter’s Boys High School in Mumias for his A-Levels.
The MP held a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Sociology from Egerton University and a Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of Nairobi (UoN).
