Several teachers and headteachers from schools in Kiharu Constituency have been treated to a trip to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates as part of a motivational program by area MP Ndindi Nyoro. The program rewards top-performing teachers with fully funded trips abroad, providing both exposure and professional inspiration.Â
On Wednesday, December 2, 2025, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro revealed that several school heads were in Dubai on a motivational trip. The lawmaker shared photos of the teachers at the airport, hotels, and in Dubai, enjoying the trip.Â

The school heads of the best-performing and most improved schools also get a trip. Those who have visited Dubai before travel to Malaysia. This recognition also applies to day-secondary schools in the constituency.

Funding of the trip
In a statement, Ndindi Nyoro, the area MP and a former Chair of the Budget committee, said the trip is privately funded.
“The packages are privately funded since Public resources don’t have this provision,” read the post.
Earlier in January 2024, the principal of the best-improved school in each of the sub-counties in Kiharu was rewarded with a five-day, all-expenses-paid trip to Dubai, under the Masomo Bora Programme unveiled by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and supported by the Kiharu NG-CDF.
The initiative also recognized teachers who excelled in improving subjects within their sub-counties, offering them a four-day, fully sponsored trip to Kenya’s coast.
The program has sparked reactions from citizens. An X user named Johnson said, “I have voted for you since 2017, and I’ve seen my vote hasn’t gone to waste.”
Another user, Harry Reid, added, “This is a great initiative, the quality of education in public schools has really gone down, it’s now a reserve of the poor. This initiative will no doubt improve the quality of education.”
Another critique said, “This kind of financial motivation sounds good, but I fear it’s the one that brings about cheating in exams and also leads to rote learning instead of guiding students to acquire knowledge and skills.”
