NYS Announces 222 Job Opportunities: Qualifications & How to Apply

The National Youth Service (NYS) has advertised 222 job opportunities for its graduates.

In an advert on Saturday, October 26, NYS invited its former trainees to apply for opportunities in various fields offered by an undisclosed company. 

NYS announced that the company seeks to recruit 120 security officers (only men) and 23 machine attendants ii (bending machine).

The Service also announced that it is looking for 30 machine attendants iii (punching machine) and 12 field agents- property Management.

Additionally, NYS seeks to recruit seven secretaries and 30 welders.

Requirements and Qualifications for NYS Jobs

In the advert, the National Youth Service stated that applicants for the position of security guards should send a handwritten application letter to the HR Manager, through Director General National Youth service P.O. Box 30397– 0010 Nairobi- Kenya.

They should have two (2) most recent color passport-size photographs- not more than six months old.

Other Requirements for Security Guards

National Identity Card original and two photocopies (with ages between 22 yrs to 35 yrs)

  •  Have a minimum height of 5 FEET 10 INCHES.
  •  Form 4 KCSE certificate, result slip, secondary school leaving certificate. (Original and a photocopy with a minimum grade of D+).
  •  Other academic and professional certificates, original and copies (Optional)
  •  Certificate of Good Conduct (not more than 6 months from the date of issue), or receipt/ an invoice showing you have made the application.
  • National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Card, National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF), KRA PIN certificate (original and photocopy).
  •  Original letter from the Chief/Sub-Chief from your rural home with a postal address (to include Codes) and telephone contacts.
  •  Originals & Photocopies of Recommendation Letters or Certificate of Service from former Employers if you’ve worked anywhere before.
  •  Original letters from three referees with their full addresses (including postal Codes), telephone contacts, and ID copy- Not relatives, Government Officers, or Our Employees.
  •  Detailed sketch maps of your residences, rural and urban, original.
  •  Valid Bank Account, Account No. and Branch

Qualifications & Requirements of Mechanist & Welders

NYS said a distinguished company located in Kenya, which specializes in manpower outsourcing services, is seeking to hire the skilled welders capable of delivering precision welding services to fulfill the operational requirements of their clients in Kenya.

 Machine Attendant II & Bending Machine Operators

  • Diploma or Craft certificate in mechanical engineering/ Artisan National Trade Test Certificate Grade II/apprentice Certificate awarded by the National Industrial Training Authority or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Apprenticeship programs that combine on-the-job training with classroom instruction can be beneficial.
  • Prior experience working as a CNC operator for a period not less than 3 years.
  • Outstanding analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Skillset to interpret design blueprints which are usually 3D drawings.
  • Knowledge of mathematics and mechanics, Software and computer skills.

Welder III 

  • Diploma or Craft certificate in mechanical Engineering Production / Artisan National Trade Test Certificate Grade III,arc welding/apprentice Certificate awarded by the National Industrial Training Authority or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution
  •  Minimum three (3) years’ experience in precision welding having worked in a busy welding environment.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, in English and Kiswahili
  • Ensures high quality
  • Dependable

Field Property Agents Qualifications and Requirements

The successful applicants will conduct property inspections and ensure compliance with management standards and coordinate maintenance and repairs with vendors and contractors.

  • National Youth Service Graduate
  • Any business-related course 
  • Previous experience in property management or a related field is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and property management software.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Qualifications and Requirements for Secretaries

The position involves delivering administrative and clerical assistance to the organization, managing both internal and external communications, and coordinating schedules for meetings and conferences.

  • National Youth Service Graduate 
  • Diploma/craft in Secretarial Studies
  • At least two (4) years working experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience in data processing and bookkeeping
  •  Ability to work independently
  • Organized with a professional demeanor.
