President William Ruto has ordered the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) to construct a new Level 4 hospital in Sogoo, Narok County.
Addressing a roadside gathering of residents during a tour of the area on Wednesday, May 7, the head of state noted that the move would fast-track access to healthcare in the region.
According to Ruto, Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu had planned to construct two hospitals, one in Sogoo and another in Kilgoris, each budgeted at Ksh2 million.
However, the President directed the county to focus on completing the Kilgoris facility, leaving the national government, through the military, would handle the Sogoo Hospital.
“I know that you have a hospital here, but your Governor Ole Ntutu has told me that he is building another hospital here for Ksh2 million and another one in Kilgoris for Ksh2 million.
“I have told him to focus on the Kilgoris one, so that I can handle this one in Sogoo,” said Ruto.

Ruto Issues Order to the Military
In his speech, Ruto announced that he had already ordered the army to begin the construction work at Sogoo, in Narok.
According to the president, the construction will be completed by the end of the year.
Also, he assured the residents that the facility will have sufficient equipment for any healthcare services they will need.
“I have brought members of the army to help me build this hospital. When you go home for Christmas, you will come back and find a ready hospital,” stated Ruto.
“It will be a level 4 hospital with all the equipment needed for treatment. You will not have to go all the way to Narok to seek medical attention.”

Earlier Promises to Narok County Residents
Earlier, the president allocated 6,000 acres of the Kedong Ranch to the Maasai Community in Narok as he began his tour of the county.
Speaking in Suswa, on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, Ruto announced that the government had resolved to allocate additional acreage to locals. Part of the contested land hosts key regional infrastructure, including the Naivasha Inland Dry Port.
Also, he said that beneficiaries of the land allocation would receive their title deeds within one week.
“You told me the people of Narok wanted a share of Kedong Ranch. I’ve now added 6,000 acres using government funds to the 4,000 acres you already had — bringing the total to 10,000 acres.
“Bring me the names of the intended title deed holders, and I will issue the title deeds once the list of beneficiaries is provided. In one week, the title deeds will be here with you,” he announced.
