The county government of Bungoma has shortlisted Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers for 200 jobs advertised in October 2023.
In a notice on Friday, May 3, the Keneth Lusaka led county announced that interested and qualified candidates who submitted their applications ought to be ready for the upcoming interviews.
Further, the statement detailed that the names of shortlisted candidates had been published, alongside the date, time and venue for the scheduled interviews.
The 200 teachers the county government is looking to employ will include holders of diploma and certificates in education.
90 of the posts will be reserved for Diploma holders while 110 posts will be reserved for certificate holders.
“We refer to the advertisement of vacant positions of ECDE Teachers (Diploma) JG “H” (90 Posts) and ECDE Teachers (Certificate), JG “G” (110 Posts) which appeared in the Daily Nation and Standard Newspapers of Wednesday October 25th, 2023.
“Those who applied are requested to check from the Bungoma County Website www.bungoma.go.ke. for the details on Shortlisted Candidates, date, time, and venue for interview,” the notice read in part.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Teachers
What’s more, the ECDE teachers will be responsible for organizing and facilitating play and learning activities to enable children to cope with primary school life.
Also, the teachers will care and nurture spiritual, moral, social, mental, and physical growth of children.
Additionally, they will be tasked with preparing and developing play and learning materials for the children.
“Managing ECDE centers, keeping professional records (schemes of work and lesson plans) daily program of activities and ensuring children’s safety and security,” the job advert indicated.

Previous Job Advert and Qualifications
For appointment to grade H, a candidate must have a minimum grade C (plain) in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Minimum Grade C (Plain) or its approved equivalent.
Also, the candidate must also have a diploma in ECDE offered by Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) or its approved equivalent.
On the other hand, candidates applying for job group G must have minimum Grade D (Plain) in KCSE and Certificate in ECDE offered by the KNEC.
In addition, all applicants for the two job groups must register with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Applicants were asked to submit a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV), copies of academic and professional certificates duly certified, and testimonials, attach their National Identification Card or Passport and any other supporting documents.
“The applications should be submitted in sealed envelopes, clearly indicating the position applied for on the top left side of the envelope,” said the PSB.
“Hand delivered applications should be submitted to the County PSB offices located next to the Governor’s Office,” added the advert.
