Bomet Governor, Hilary Barchok asked the current government to have public interest when they are hiking the fuel prices.
In his statement, the Bomet governor appealed to President William Ruto and members of parliament to come to the aid of the helpless Kenyans.
“Our president, our members of parliament, let us rescue our people,” he said.
According to the governor, the leaders do not care about the public hence the need to intervene.
“If we are serious and concerned about the lives of our people, we must make their life not to be very expensive” he stated.
According to the UDA governor, the root cause of the high cost of living was the high fuel prices.

“Once we hike fuel prices, because of taxes, we will lose much money in the process we lose many taxes as most businesses will close down,” he noted.
“If one visits Uganda or even Tanzania, they will realize that the fuel prices are lower there yet, the fuel that is sold in Uganda passes through the country. We would have expected the opposite,” he added.
Further, he called out the excessive taxation as punitive and symbolized how the government did not care for its citizen.
“And that is a very clear message to us that we have a very insensitive government. And I am speaking as a governor, not as a common citizen,” he stated.
Barchok, who took over as governor following the demise of the late Joyce Laboso, successfully defended his seat during 2022 polls.
