In the aftermath of the gruesome Mukuru, Kware murders, the Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mohamed Amin, has addressed concerns over the perceived slow pace of the investigation.
During the July 15 press briefing held at DCI headquarters, a reporter questioned why it took a dream to lead to the discovery of the mutilated bodies, rather than proactive action by the security forces.
The reporter highlighted the viral reports of a dream that led a woman, to the discovery of the bodies at the Mukuru quarry.
Responding to the reporter’s question, Director Amin firmly stated that the DCI had already initiated its investigation into the case before the dream revelation and was methodically pursuing the leads.
“In terms of dreaming, we are not dreamers, and we don’t believe in dreaming,” he said.
“We are guided by professionalism, even before the said Josephine prophesied what she prophesied, we had our work plan cut out for us and we are doing it methodically and very professionally,” added Amin.
Details of the Peculiar Dream
Following the grim discovery of the mutilated bodies at the Mukuru quarry dumping site, details emerged of how it was all thanks to a dream by a relative of one of the victims.
According to Peris Keya, the woman who had the dream, along with other members of her family were reportedly looking for their missing kin, Josephine Mulongo.
Peris while speaking to media said that her sister Josephine appeared to them in a dream, guiding them to the location of the bodies.
While recounting the vivid dream Peris said, “Josephine came to me in a dream. She asked me why I was telling her story to those who were visiting us at home.”
“I was unable to speak because it was a dream. She then started beating me. This went on for a while. Afterwards, I found myself outside,” said Peris.
She then said Josephine then took her to a hill where she showed her a group of five men in a circle and revealed to her that the place was where she was.

DCI Director Gives Update on the Case
Similarly in the press briefing, the DCI boss assured the public that significant progress has been made, with the main suspect identified as Collins Jomaisi Khalisi already apprehended.
According to Amin the 33-year-old was arrested in the Soweto area of Kayole at around 3 a.m. as he was leaving a club after watching a football game.

The DCI boss revealed that the breakthrough in the case came after a thorough forensic analysis of a mobile phone belonging to one of the victims identified as Josephin Mulongo.
Upon his arrest, Khalisia led officers to his rented one-room house situated approximately 100 meters from the crime scene, where a wide array of items linked to the murders was found in his possession.
Amin, however, vowed to cast a wide net in the search for additional perpetrators, promising that more arrests would be forthcoming.
“We are likely to arrest more suspects because we believe that he was not alone in the commission of this reprehensible act and very soon we will be able to net them, we shall cast the net wide,” said Amin.
