National Assembly majority leader Kimani Ichung’wah on Monday, October 2 in a light moment at Bomas of Kenya said former Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and EALA MP Omar Hassan never pay attention.
Ichung’wah made these comments during the ongoing National Dialogue Committee proceedings while on a brief break in between submissions.
“We have agreed to allow the Ogiek community 10 minutes, you know why I’m saying that, to Eugine and Omar who never pay attention to what is going on in the meeting,” he joked amid laughter from the committee members.
His co-chairman in the dialogue committee Kalonzo Musyoka reminded him that they were being recorded saying, “chairman this is all on camera.”
Moreover, Ichung’wah while reacting to Omar’s statement that Wamalwae should keep his comments brief called on the two politicians to keep their ‘lectures’ short during the proceedings.

“For Eugene and Hassan Omar, it is not comments. Please keep your lecture brief,” he said.
Additionally, Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot weighed in on the conversation asking Ichung’wah to rule that Omar and Wamalwa have exhausted their comments for the day.
“Chair what you need to guide is that they have made their comments for the entire day, now they listen for the rest of the day,” senator Cheruiyot said.
“Eugene and Omar, I need to agree with Senator Aaron you have spoken for the day. Bundle zenu zimeisha (You have depleted your bundles),” the majority leader stated.
Committee Members Slowing the Submissions’ Process
The light moment came following complaints by Embu governor Cecily Mbarire that the committee was taking too much time seeking clarification on matters, adding that it was slowing down the process.

Several groups were scheduled to appear before the National Dialogue Commitee today, to make their submissions.
The groups include the IEBC Selection Panel, Homabay Interface Community Health Desk, Parliamentary Service Commission, Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research Analysis and the former Attorney General Amos Wako.
Others are Narok senator Ledama Olekina, Kitui senator Enock Wambua, Kisumu senator Tom Ojienda, Public Service Commission, Trans Nzoia County Communities’ Council, Information Communication Technology Association of Kenya and Council of Governors.
