The government has formed a committee on benevolent fund to support bereaved families of police officers.
Selected to spearhead the process of establishing a benevolent fund for members of the National Police Service (NPS) are Interior and National Administration Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo and his Correctional Services counterpart Muthoni Muriuki.
Moreover, while speaking during a ceremony to honor officers who lost their lives in line of duty, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki stated that the team has 30 days to submit its recommendations.
CS Kindiki noted that the fund is meant to support families that are left behind and who are very needy.

Furthermore, Deputy Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow reported that the country has lost a total of 56 officers this year.
Gabow added that 30 of the fallen officers were drawn from the Kenya Police Service, 19 were from the Administrations Police Service, 3 were attached to DCI and 4 served in the Kenya Prison Service.
