Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko now wants President William Ruto to intervene and help him get back his money frozen by the courts.
Sonko claims he is among leaders who were victimized by the past regime for working with President Ruto.
“In the past regime a lot of things happened to most of us who were supporting you, Gachagua has now been refunded his money and others have had their cases dropped.I just want my frozen refunded just like Gachagua,” Sonko said.
He cited the example of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua whose multiple cases have been withdrawn and his accounts unfrozen.

Sonko’s accounts holding about sh 18 million were frozen on February 2020 following a ruling by Justice Luka Kimaru.
The funds are held at Equity bank, Diamond Trust Bank and Cooperative Bank.
The case was withdrwan for lack of evidence but the DPP appealed, claiming that the court relied on extraneous factors in its decision to acquit Sonko and co-accused.
Since President Ruto took office, several high profile cases have been withdrawn including those that had been filed against some of his Cabinet Secretaries.
