President William Ruto has cautioned Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Supporters against any form of lawlessness or destruction of property ahead of the May 2 anti-government protests.
While speaking during the launch of Malava-Kimang’eti-Ikoli road in Kakamega County on Saturday, April 29, the president echoed that the state will not waver in safeguarding the lives and property of Kenyans.
Moreover, President Ruto stated that he urged opposition leader Raila Odinga to pursue peaceful means of addressing their grievances but he instead opted for protests.
“For the avoidance of doubt, there will be no demonstrations to destroy people’s property, to cause chaos, to stop people from going to work, or our children from going to school. That will not happen,” he said.
“The Government of Kenya will stand firm to ensure that every Kenyan and their business and their children are secure.” Added the President.
The head of state further asked Azimio coalition to stop frustrating the government, adding that they should wait for the next general election.
President Ruto also claimed that Mr. Odinga is using the ant-government protests to advance his selfish interests.

Likewise, the president urged the former prime minister to follow the law if he has any issues against him or his administration instead of causing chaos.
“Respect the institutions that has been created by the constitution, if you have issues with the servers go to court and go to any other institutions, forget about disturbing ordinary people,” Ruto said.
He further urged the opposition chief to allow him ample time to serve Kenyans just like he did during the ‘handshake’ with former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In addition, the president highlighted that Kenyans are tired of frequent protests by the opposition noting that a time had come for them to accept and move on.
