Hull City forward Sammy Henia-Kamau, who is among Kenya’s rising stars abroad, is edging closer to playing in the English Premier League after his club sealed promotion for the 2026/27 season.
The 20-year-old attacker is currently part of Hull City’s Under-21 squad but is seen as one of the young players pushing for a place in the senior team.
Sammy Henia-Kamau Early Life and Education
Sammy Henia-Kamau was born on February 17, 2006, and grew up in Jersey, where he began his football journey in the local development system.
His multicultural background, with a Kenyan father and an English mother, has shaped both his identity and international career path.
From a young age, Henia-Kamau showed strong promise as an attacking player.
He joined Jersey Bulls, where his talent quickly became evident.

At Under-16 level, he was a prolific scorer, netting 20 goals in just 15 matches, a record that marked him out as one of the most exciting young prospects in the region.
He progressed through the ranks to Under-18 level and even made appearances for the senior team, becoming the youngest player in the club’s history to score a hat-trick.
His performances earned him the Sid Guy Award in 2022 at the Jersey FA Center of Excellence, recognizing him as the most outstanding young player in the program.
In 2023, his development took a major step forward when he secured a scholarship with Swansea City.
At Swansea, he combined his education with elite-level football training, progressing through the club’s academy system while building the technical and physical skills required for the professional game.
Career
Sammy Henia-Kamau’s professional football career began in 2023, when he moved to Swansea City after earning a scholarship.
At Swansea, he featured for both the Under-18 and Under-21 teams, making an immediate impact.
He scored 10 goals in his first season and delivered standout performances, including a hat-trick against Cardiff City in the Professional Development League Cup.
His performances earned him a professional contract, confirming his development at the club.
In July 2025, he joined Hull City following a successful trial, linking up with the club’s Under-21 squad.
At Hull, he has continued his progress, making regular appearances and contributing goals while playing as a center-forward or right winger.
He scored four goals in 12 matches for the Under-21 side, showing steady growth in his attacking play.

Although he is yet to make his senior debut in English professional football, Henia-Kamau is viewed as a player close to breaking into the first team, with coaches valuing his pace, energy and versatility in attack.
His international career also began in 2026 when he made his debut for Harambee Stars, coming on as a substitute in a 4-0 win over Lesotho.
