Russia launched a coordinated missile and drone assault across Ukraine, striking Kyiv and other major cities, including Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Kryvyi Rih.
On February 26, the Ukrainian Air Force said the drones were detected in the early hours of the morning, prompting air defence units to engage the incoming aerial targets.
Kyiv City Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko said the attack involved both ballistic missiles and drones.
While Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko confirmed that air defence units were actively intercepting targets over the city and advised residents to stay in safe locations while operations continued.
He reported that damage was recorded in three districts, that is Darnytskyi, Holosiivskyi, and Pecherskyi.
Russia Launches Missile and Drone Assault Across Ukraine
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine stated that the Zaporizhzhia region came under a drone attack, leaving one person injured.
In one nine-storey residential building, apartments on the seventh and eighth floors caught fire.
“Russians attack city with drones. As a result of the attack, 1 person was injured. Rescuers are working at 5 addresses,” read part of the statement.
Another building, apartments, balconies and windows were damaged, though no additional fires were reported.
A shopping centre also caught fire, with the blaze covering about 60 square metres. A private house was also damaged, and the strike caused roof damage to another shopping centre.

In Darnytskyi district, falling debris caused a blast wave that damaged windows and doors in a first-floor apartment of a nine-story building.
While in the Kharkiv region, Russians attacked the region with strike drones and missiles.
The attack was recorded in the Kyiv, Shevchenkivsky, Slobodsky and Saltivsky districts of the city, as well as in the village of Rai-Olenivka, Kharkiv region.
Two private residential buildings in the Saltivsky district were on fire, as well as car and garage structures in the Slobodsky district of the city.
According to the State Emergency Service in Ukraine, 14 people were injured, including one child.

Other Damaged Regions
Multi-storey and private residential buildings were damaged.
In the Holosiivskyi district, garages caught fire because of the strikes, while in the Pechersk district, a blaze broke out in a two-storey residential building located on private property.
Meanwhile, in the Darnytskyi district, the blast wave damaged windows and doors in a ground-floor apartment of a nine-storey residential building.
The State Emergency Service in Ukraine said all the fires have since been extinguished.
