A police officer attached to Deputy President William Ruto is nursing head injuries sustained in an altercation with a gardener.
The officer is admitted at the Nairobi West hospital.
The incident happened at the DP’s private residence in Karen, Nairobi.
According to police, Corporal Timothy Mugendi Rucha suffered an injury on the rear part of his head.
The gardener hit the officer with an object after the altercation turned physical.
However,police have not disclosed what caused the altercation between the two early Thursday morning.
DP Ruto was not present at his residence when the incident happened .
The officer was taken to Nairobi West Hospital in critical condition with multiple head injuries.
Police have identified the gardener as Nicholas Kibiwot Rono.
Rono will stay in police custody pending investigations and arraignment.
On Thursday, senior police officers visited the scene after the incident .
Those who visited the officer from Security of Government Buildings said he was in stable condition.
Consequently, police are waiting for the officer to recover and acquire a P3 form to facilitate the prosecution of the suspect.
Additionally, the suspect is expected to record a statement with the police.
The DP’s office has not released any statement on the incident.
