Sote kama Familia kwa Pamoja Kuafikia Azimio (Sofapaka) is a football team based in Wundanyi, Taita Taveta County, Kenya, founded in 2002.
Historical background
Originally started by the club chairman, Elly Kalekwa, as a church team, the team was officially founded in 2004 by a Congolese businessman with a passion for football and community development.

The club’s full name, Sote kama Familia kwa Pamoja Kuafikia Azimio, translates to “Together as a Family to Achieve the Goal,” a motto that reflects its spiritual and communal foundation.
The nickname of Sofapaka is “Batoto ba Mungu,” which translates to “Children of God” in Kiswahili, reflecting the club’s roots in a church-based football team.
The club joined the Nationwide League, and their breakthrough came in 2007 when they won the President’s Cup while still in this lower division.
This victory was significant, as it was the first time a Nationwide League team won a national title, earning them a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Following this success, Sofapaka was promoted to the Kenyan Premier League, where they achieved further glory by playing an attacking brand of football that won them both matches and admiration, winning the league title in 2009 under coach Robert Matano.
Their title-winning squad featured standout players like John Baraza, James Situma, and Wilson Oburu, who became household names across the country.
Following their domestic success, Sofapaka ventured into continental competitions, representing Kenya in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.
Sofapaka Regional Glory
Their most memorable continental moment came in 2011 when they defeated Egyptian giants Ismaily SC 4–0 in Nairobi, a rare and celebrated victory over North African opposition.
Regionally, the club has also lifted the FKF President’s Cup (2007, 2010, 2014), Kenyan Super Cup (2010, 2011), and SportPesa Shield (2018), cementing their status as a formidable force in East African football.
Additional achievements include the Jamhuri Cup in 2018 and the Mashujaa Cup in 2017, which are lesser known but significant domestic cups.
Others, such as finishing 2nd in the SportPesa Shield Cup in 2018 and various league positions (e.g., 5th in 2018, 2nd in 2017), indicate their consistent competitiveness, though these are not titles won.
