Nakuru county is likely to produce the largest number of elected female members of parliament going by the results registered so far
Already Gilgil Member of Parliament Martha Wangari has retained her seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, after garnering a total of 35,363 votes.
Wangari’s main competitor Nderitu Mathenge of Jubilee came second with 19,764 votes.
“Finally the results are out!!!thank you God.Thanks family and friends thanks Gilgil, I will make it count,” she posted on her Twitter account.
Wangari will be serving her second term as Gilgil MP
In Naivasha incumbent Jayne Kihara is headed for victory against a host of male competitors including his predecessor John Kihagi

Kihara is also running on a UDA ticket. She will be serving her second term as MP
In Njoro constituency, incumbent Charity Kathambi has braved off competition from former MP Joseph Kiuna and is headed for victory
Kathambi as well is running on a UDA ticket and is set to secure a second term
In Bahati constituency ,early results show Jubilee candidate Irene Njoki leading against incumbent Kimani Ngunjiri.
Ngunjiri is running on a UDA ticket.
In the Senatorial race, UDA candidate Tabitha Karanja has taken an early lead against Jubilee candidate Lawrence Karanja
In the gubernatorial contest, Senator Susan Kihika is in an early lead against incumbent Lee Kinyanjui
If results stay as they are, Nakuru will produce five female members of parliament directly elected at the ballot
