Bongo Flava artist Ali Kiba marked a 20-year milestone in the music industry with the grand launch of his latest business venture, Crown Media.
The event, held at the Hyatt Regency in Dar es Salaam, garnered praise and attendance from notable figures like former President Jakaya Kikwete and the Tanzanian Minister of Information Nape Moses Nnauye, who commended Alikiba’s bold step into the media realm.
The exclusive event, also attended by the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila and other Bongo Flava artists, was a testament of Alikiba’s Influence.
Details of Crown Media
During the launch Ali Kiba said that he aims to reach as many people as possible through his new entity, Crown Media, which will include a TV station (Crown TV), and radio station (Crown FM), digital media and events.
He also revealed that his radio station, Crown FM, was granted the frequency 92.1, expanding its coverage to Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Zanzibar, and the Pwani regions.

When asked why he decided to venture specifically into the media business and not any other business such as real estate or travel, Ali Kiba outlined the pivotal role of media in shaping his career, citing his childhood attachment to a radio gifted by his father as a source of inspiration for his media venture.
“Media is a very powerful tool, it played a significant role in shaping me into the Ali Kiba you all know today. I couldn’t sleep without my small radio, a gift from my father.”
“The challenges I faced are what have inspired me to bring a solution to people’s lives through the media,” Kiba explained.
Ali Kiba reveals why he chose the name “Crown” Media
The choice of ‘Crown’ as the name for his media empire he explained holds symbolic significance, signifying the value and royal experience in entertainment that he aims to deliver to his audience.
“Asili ya crown ni uthamani, ni kitu ambacho kiko ufalmeni, kitu chenye thamani na kenye kutukuzwa, kutuzwa…chenye kumpa mtu value,” he noted.
His remarks can be translated to “The Origin of the name crown is value, something that based in royalty, something that is praised and recognized and gives someone value.”

He further added that he created Crown Media to provide and add value to people’s lives and businesses.
“Crown is something to run towards and not from, it is for everybody, it will serve everybody. It is home. I created Crown to offer a solution to people’s lives.”
