Martha Karua Reveals How She Got Her First Job

Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua has shared details of the first interview that saw her land her first government job.

Martha gave the details while quoting a section of her memoir, Against The Tide. She narrated how the interview went despite having not prepared well for it.

“There was no guarantee that one would get what their heart desired, so I naturally moderated my expectations. That being my first interview, I had no idea how it would go,” said Martha.

She explained that despite not having prepared well, she was confident thanks to her pupillage experience and academic qualifications.

Martha had not prepared well for the interview

“I had not prepared much for it especially because of how abruptly the opportunity had been presented to us. I just showed up for the interview confident that having graduated from the university, completed and passed all units at the Kenya School of Law, and having benefited from an engaging pupillage, I had everything going for me,” stated Karua.

She further gave details of the interviewing panel, which consisted of three people including the then Registrar of the High Court, Pritam Singh Bra.

One of the questions that stood out for her during the interview, she narrates, was how she would deal with university students brought to her for taking part in a riot, to which she gave an interesting answer.

“I believe my answer could have been better framed, but I said that students held peaceful protests, and it was the police officer who rioted by using excessive force on unarmed students,” added Martha.
