The woman was to report on April 26 but refused and travelled with her husband to Kamwene B Village. The police found them confined in one house belonging to a woman suspected of running an unregistered and suspected cultic church known as ‘Army Rurwama.’
All 31 people were rescued and taken to Njoro Police Station for further investigation. The group was subjected to praying and fasting, according to the police report.
The rescue operation came amid a probe into the deaths of more than one hundred people in Shakahola forest, Kilifi County. Police have detained Pastors Ezekiel Odero and Paul Mackenzie, who are accused of brainwashing their followers, which led to their mysterious deaths.
