Political Analyst Herman Manyora now argues that opposition leader Raila Odinga might support President William Ruto in the next general elections.
Appearing on TV47, Manyora said President Ruto’s successful Nyanza tour and the ongoing bipartisan talks may be a sign of an underway deal between the two leaders.
“President Ruto will get the votes of Nyanza will depend on the dynamics, it will depend on where Raila will stand and the results we get from Bomas. So, in the event he (Ruto) gets a nod from Raila, which is most likely, there should be no problem,” said Manyora.
Further, the analyst opined that the Bomas talks might produce a government structure that can accommodate five to six political leaders ahead of the next general elections.
“I have this feeling 2027 maybe a year of comprise, it may be a year where we have negotiated democracy where Raila tells Ruto okay let’s pass this Bomas Kalonzo gets his share I get a share and you go to State House unopposed,” added Manyora.
Additionally, Manyora stated the president and the former Prime Minister already have a political deal which does not include Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
“My reading of the politics of this country is that Raila has a deal with Ruto, and that deal may not have much space Gachagua,” stated Manyora.
Moreover, the analyst said the president is comfortable of winning his second term since he has Western on his side and Nyanza region welcomed him.
“Ruto is comfortable that he has Western and Nyanza is not hostile to him. The Luos have never been hostile to him, they have small disagreements about elections but there is no hatred the Luos would have against him like they did with somebody like former President Uhuru Kenyatta before the handshake,” added Manyora.

Ruto Promise to Nyanza
During his Nyanza tour, the president dismissed the claims of the Kenya Kwanza government awarding development and positions based on shares.
Speaking in Siaya County, on Friday October 6, the president said his government belongs to all the citizens of Kenya regardless of their political affiliations.
“Let nobody tell you that you are not in government, this government belongs to the people of Kenya. You pay taxes and you are also Kenyans, so this government is yours,” he said.

Furthermore, he promised that no region will be left behind in development because of its political alignment.
“It is primitive and backward for anybody to imagine that any region of Kenya cannot get development on account of how they voted,” he said.
Also, the president promised to visit the region in future to launch more development projects.
In addition, he asked Nyanza residents to support his presidency arguing that he made opposition leader Raila Odinga get the Prime Minister position in 2007.
