Kenyan lawyer Miracle Mudeyi has been admitted to Yale Law School to pursue a Master of Laws (LL.M.), becoming the first Kenyan in 33 years to receive the prestigious Yale scholarship

Lawyer Jacqueline Ingutiah announced the achievement in a congratulatory message on July 29, describing Mudeyi’s admission as a testament to his talent, hard work, and dedication.

“Congratulations, Miracle Medeyi, on your admission to Yale Law School to pursue a Master of Laws (LL.M.) This is a truly well-deserved achievement. Your admission is even more remarkable as it marks the first time in 33 years that a Kenyan has received this prestigious Yale scholarship, a testament to your exceptional talent, hard work, and dedication,” she said.

Ingutiah noted that the scholarship was the result of years of discipline, excellence and a relentless pursuit of knowledge, adding that the achievement would inspire a new generation of Kenyan lawyers.

She also expressed confidence that Mudeyi would continue flying Kenya’s flag high during his studies at Yale, joking that residents of Senje would welcome him home with ululations and dancers upon completing his LL.M.

Requirements to Earn a Yale Law Scholarship

Yale Law School is among the world’s most prestigious law schools, recognized for its academic excellence, highly selective admissions, and unique grading system.

It is located in New Haven, Connecticut.

International applicants, including those from Kenya, must meet several key requirements to be considered for admission and scholarship support at Yale Law School.

Those applying for the Master of Laws (LL.M.) program are expected to hold a strong first law degree, such as an LL.B. or its equivalent, and demonstrate academic and professional excellence.

After applying, the Admissions Committee will evaluate academic performance by a comprehensive review of all official transcripts, including international transcripts.

Those seeking need-based financial aid must submit detailed financial information, including income and asset declarations, tax documents, employer letters, and other supporting records.
