Former Ministry of Trade and Investment (MITI) Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has said Kenya will move from a majorly importing country to an exporting giant.
Moses Kuria, who is the current cabinet secretary for Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management stated this as he handed the reigns of MITI to CS Rebecca Miano.
“The trade negotiations and investment partnership that we’ve initiated from all parts of the world like Indonesia, US, UAE, Saudi Arabia and others, will see this country move from an importing one to an export Giant,” he noted in his official X account on Wednesday, October 11.

Moreover, CS Kuria pointed out his role in making Kenya a main exporter adding that he had laid a good foundation at the trade’s ministry.

“I have done the foundation and put this country into an Economic revival and take off. The wheels of production have started to roll as investors are ready to industrialize the country from all corners through our revolutionary County Aggregation and industrial parks (CAIPs),” he wrote.
The CS said he was satisfied with the work he had done at MITI further noting that his 11-month term was a job well done by him and his team.
“I move with a lot of satisfaction and humble contention for the work I have accomplished happy for I am confident the team that I have left behind will continue with the dream that we had,” he noted.
Also, Moses Kuria thanked President William Ruto for appointing him to head the Ministry of Public Service.
“I will take a lead role as the coordinator of all inter-ministerial projects and unlock any walls that would be interfering with a speedy delivery of services and projects to Kenyans.” Moses Kuria said on his new role as CS for Public service docket.
Moses Kuria’s Term at MITI
CS Moses Kuria’s 11 month stay at MITI was eventful and riddled with controversies owing to his outspoken nature.
Notably, in recent times, the CS was under fire after telling Kenyans to drill for their own fuel.
This was in response to the increased fuel prices announced by the Energy Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) on September 15th, 2023.
”I repeat, petrol will be Sh260 by February. El Nino is coming in 3 weeks and will last till March. These are global and climate change driven,” he commented on the issue.
Consequently, Kenyans including the deputy president were displeased at his insensitive remarks.

While reacting to Kuria’s sentiments of the Fuel issue, DP Rigathi Gachagua asked for empathy from leaders while speaking to Kenyans on fuel prices.
Nonetheless, CS Kuria in what seemed like a sarcastic apology, noted that he had made a mistake in his remarks.
“I am made to now understand that the price will come down. I apologize profusely since to err is human,” he stated then.
