US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has stated that US and Israeli forces are expected to have “complete control of Iranian skies” within a few days.
In a media briefing on March 4, Hegseth said they were just getting started and were accelerating rather than decelerating.
He said that Iran’s capabilities were “evaporating by the hour” while American strength was growing fiercer, smarter, and utterly dominant.
The Defence Secretary added that American forces will use precision-guided gravity bombs, ranging from 500-pound to 2,000-pound munitions, drawn from a nearly unlimited stockpile.
“More bombers and more fighters are arriving just today,” he said.
“And now, with complete control of the skies, we will be using 500-pound, thousand pound and 2,000-pound GG and laser guided precision gravity bombs, of which we have a nearly unlimited stockpile.”
US and Israel Set to Gain Full Control of Iranian Airspace as Strikes Intensify
Hegseth also confirmed that the US was behind the sinking of an Iranian submarine in the Indian Ocean.
The Iranian frigate was sunk outside Sri Lanka’s territorial waters, leaving over 100 people missing.
Additionally, Pete stated that the leader behind an alleged plot to assassinate US President Donald Trump has been killed.
The Defence Secretary accused Iran of negotiating in bad faith while simultaneously preparing for military action, even as the US carried out strikes.

He also commended Israel’s role in Gaza, highlighting its strategic capabilities and the benefits of partnering with such a skilled ally.
Regarding the recent attack on an Iranian girls’ school that reportedly left more than 160 dead, Hegseth said Washington is continuing its investigation.

How the War Will Continue
Speaking alongside Hegseth, General Dan Caine outlined the US military strategy in Iran.
He stated that the focus is on neutralizing Iran’s ballistic missile systems to protect US forces and regional allies, while degrading its naval capabilities to prevent a rapid rebuild of combat strength.
The next phase will involve striking progressively deeper into Iranian territory to expand operational flexibility for US forces.
On day four of operations, CENTCOM has shifted from long-range, stand-off strikes to precision attacks conducted directly over Iranian airspace.
The attacks, according to General Caine, will ensure that Iran cannot rapidly rebuild or reconstitute its combat capability or power.
“CENTCOM is now shifting on day four already, from large deliberate strike packages using stand-off munitions at range outside an enemy’s ability to shoot at us, now into stand-in precision strikes overhead Iran,” said Caine.
