Matthew Shupler is a postdoctoral research associate and quantitative lead for UK National Institute for Health Research CLEAN-Air (Africa) Global Health Research Group (https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/population-health-sciences/staff/matthew-shupler/). He has applied his statistical training to the field of household air pollution over the last eight years, beginning with his Master of Public Health in Biostatistics at The George Washington University in Washington, DC.

Matt is currently completing his doctoral thesis in Epidemiology at the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Matt has worked as a data analyst on randomized controlled trials and observational studies examining the various health impacts of exposure to household air pollution from cooking with polluting fuels. His research aims to improve population health and combat climate change via strategies that reduce household air pollution. This includes evaluating the sustainability of clean cooking technologies in low- and middle-income countries in order to accelerate the transition to modern fuels for household energy.
