Diana Chepkemoi, a 24-year-old Kenyan who had been detained in Saudi Arabia arrived in the Country on Tuesday, September 6th.
The said girl caught the attention of Kenyans after photos of her looking sick and emaciated surfaced online. Kenyans last weekend went on a rant online, campaigning for her release. Diana’s mother had also asked for assistance from the Government to help bring her daughter home.
Her family, led by her mother, Clara Chepkemoi, Konin Mp Brighton Yegon and friends joyfully received her at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi on Tuesday afternoon.
Diana had gone to Saudi Arabia in search of greener pastures to help her family, after she couldn’t raise school fees to complete her course in food science management at Meru University.
The 24-year-old went on to narrate her experience in the gulf Country. Diana explained how her problems with her employer started almost immediately after she arrived there. She further said to have reported the matter to her agent who did nothing.
“The first time I arrived there I had a problem with her. I reported the matter to my agent but instead of helping me he swept it under the rug and from there my boss knew he can do anything from me,” she said.
According to her, what other Kenyans are going through in Saudi Arabia is worse than what she went through. She went on to plea with the Government to help her friends who were still stuck in mistreatment termed as work.

“If I can just be honest, my case was just the tip of the iceberg people are suffering there. I plead with the government to do something, people there are being mentally and physically tortured and it’s a shame being told that your government can do anything,” she said.
