There was confusion at the Narok North tallying centre after the Deputy Returning Officer (DRO) Magdalene Soita read swapped results for gubernatorial candidates.
The IEBC official was announcing results from Enaituyupaki polling station
She announced that Kenya Kwanza governor candidate Patrick Ole Ntutu got 404 votes, which turned out to be the votes that his rival Moitalel ole Kenta had garnered.
At the said polling station, Ntutu had garnered 36 votes.
The official was forced to confirm from the carbon paper after agents protested.
Ole Kenta’s agents claimed that there were more than three polling stations whose results were swapped and demanded that the DRO recheck.
Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina, who was in the room, demanded that the counting of votes for the disputed ballot boxes should be suspended rechecked.
Tallying at the center was temporarily stopped as the two rival camps engaged in a shouting contest prompting police officers to intervene and cool tempers
Narok county Returning Officer Julius Okwetu was forced to intervene and promised to investigate how the results in the carbon copy in the ballot box differed from the one in the 34A form.
