Among the people who taught the King of pop this dance move include professional dancer Derek “Cooley” Jaxson.
Worth noting is that Micheal Jackson did not invent the moonwalk. The iconic moon walk was based on another dance move known as the backslide. Tap dancers stretching back at least to the 1940s thrilled audiences with the backslide.
Micheal Jackson early singing days
Micheal Jackson started out as part of the Jackson 5 family band.
The Jackson 5 band made twenty albums until the year 1984.
Whilst Michael had a solo career, and became a hit in 1972, he was still part of his family band till its twilight in 1984.
In his band days, Micheal Jackson’s father, Joseph Walter Jackson was the bands talent manager. He pushed the family band so hard that if they didn’t do well, he would start to get violent.
In the light of his actions, Michael Jackson fired his father as his manager in 1979 and took control of his career himself. The rest of the Jackson 5 followed suit in 1983.
Joseph Jackson died in a hospital in Las Vegas in June of 2018.
Skin condition
Micheal Jackson’s biggest points of interest other than his successful music career was his changing skin color.
In an interview on Oprah Winfrey’s show in 1993, Micheal Jackson said that his skin started to change sometime in 1982 because of Vitiligo when he was about 24 years old.
Vitiligo is a skin condition that causes lighter patches to appear on the skin, due to loss of melanin producing melanocytes. Melanin is the substance that produces skin, hair, and eye pigmentation.
After his death, his autopsy report stated that there were patches of light and dark pigmented areas upon examination of his skin, and vitiligo was listed as a diagnosis in his medical history. It was also reported that he was also using FDA approved skin bleaching agents to treat the skin condition.
Michael Jackson died suddenly of cardiac arrest at the age of fifty on June 25, 2009.
