Google has announced the rollout of YouTube Premium Services in Kenya, with users set to enjoy a variety of special features for the premium packages.
The December 6, announcement came with a promise of an enriched experience, offering a bouquet of features to users who opt for the packages.
Notably, the global tech company seeks to revolutionize content consumption in Kenya and on the African continent.
Google Africa stated, “Wassup Kenya, YouTube Music and YouTube Premium are now available in +254. Get it today and enjoy YouTube ad-free.”
Features of YouTube Premium
According to Google, one of the standout features is the elimination of interruptions, with the Premium packages ensuring unlimited, ad-free video streaming.
Notably, users will be able to dive into their favorite content without the nuisance of ads, whether exploring how-to guides or experimenting with new recipes.
On the other hand, the packages also enable users to download videos for offline viewing, breaking free from the constraints of Wi-Fi or cellular data.

As part of customer flexibility prioritization YouTube announced, “This feature ensures that your favorite videos are just a click away, anytime, anywhere.”
Also, the background play feature lets users continue watching videos uninterrupted, even when the screen is off or while using other apps.
Pricing Plans
Google announced a variety of subscription plans tailored to different needs, with new users enjoying a month-long free trial.
First, the Individual Plan subscription price will be charged at Ksh499.00 per month for android users and $4.99 for iOS users.
Also, the premium packages feature the Family Plan, charged at Ksh949 and $9.49 monthly for android and iOS users respectively.
Notably, the Premium Family package bundle allows adding up to 5 family members aged 13 and above.
In addition, the packages feature a Student Plan at Ksh289 monthly, exclusively for eligible students with annual verification.
It’s important to note that restrictions apply, and the free trial is available for eligible new members only.

Launched in 2005, it has emerged as the premier video-sharing platform and the second-largest social media platform globally, boasting over 2.70 billion users.
As the number 2 website in the world, data analytics company Demand Sage predict that YouTube’s user count will reach 2.85 billion by 2025.
YouTube was originally registered on February 14, 2005, by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim, former PayPal employees.
