The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the reopening on Nakuru-Eldoret(A8) highway at Timboroa market.
In a statement on May 5 KeNHA said that the highway is now open to traffic following the completion of remedial works at Timboroa.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority is pleased to inform the public the Nakuru – Eldoret (A8) Highway is now open to traffic. This follows completion of remedial works at Timboroa,” KeNHA said in a statement.
“We extend our sincere appreciation for your patience and understanding during the closure period.”
KeNHA Closing Nakuru-Eldoret Highway
KeNHA had announced the temporary closure of Nakuru- Eldoret Road (A8) following the destruction by storm water on Thursday May 2 morning.

In a statement, KeNHA indicated that the closure of the road was at Timboroa market.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority regrets to notify the public of the closure of Nakuru – Eldoret (A8) Road at Timboroa Market,” KeNHA said in a statement.
“This follows the destruction by storm water this morning which left a section of the road exhibiting signs of a possible collapse.”
The authority however advised motorists to use alternative routes including Nakuru-Eldama Ravine-Eldoret and the Mau Summit-Kisumu Road.
The Authority Cautioning Motorists on Other Roads
On 4th May, KeNHA urged the public to take heed of the potential risk posed by the Malewa River near Delamere Stop Over along the Nairobi – Nakuru Road (A8).
“The river is nearing the point of overflowing, heightening the danger to road users,” stated the authority.
They further advised motorists to proceed with caution when approaching the area.
KeNHA said it will temporarily close the road until conditions improve for safe passage, should the river overflow.

Furthermore, drivers were strongly advised against overlapping, as this behavior may exacerbate traffic congestion in the area.
The authority said it is actively monitoring the situation and will provide updates accordingly.
