Preliminary reports indicate an electrical malfunction as the cause of the fire, though authorities are expected to conduct a full assessment to determine the exact source of the blaze.

By the time emergency efforts brought the situation under control, the dormitory had been extensively damaged, with bedding, clothing, books, and other personal items completely destroyed.
Photos and videos of the incident seen by The Kenya Times showed the dormitory engulfed in a huge blaze, with thick smoke billowing into the sky.
Firefighters from Kiambu County were deployed to the school and managed to extinguish the inferno.
Part of the reason the fire spread quickly was the fact that the dormitory was predominantly made of timber, which is highly flammable under such circumstances.
