Dela Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Yussuf Hussein Tolfiyo, who went missing in September 2024, has been found alive. The ward, located in Wajir County, had been gripped with anxiety over his disappearance.
In footage seen by The Kenya Times, Eldas Member of Parliament (MP) Adan Keynan made the announcement while addressing MCAs who were gathered at Tolfiyo’s residence.

The MCA reunited with his family in Nairobi on Saturday, March 8, 2025.
The family members have also confirmed the information.

Wajir Governor Confirms the News
Chairperson Council of Governors (CoG) and Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi also confirmed the information.
In a post on his Facebook account, Abdullahi said he is happy to have received the good news of MCA’s safe return and reunion with his family after months of uncertainty.

He explained that the people of Wajir have endured a painful period of anxiety, prayers, and unwavering hope for his safe return since Tolfiyo’s last year.
“The news of his reunion brings immense relief and joy to our community. It is a moment of gratitude and renewed hope for his family and all those who stood by them during these difficult times,” Abdullahi said.

Additionally, the governor extended heartfelt gratitude to everyone who played a role in ensuring his safe return.
“May this moment mark the beginning of healing, peace, and renewed strength for him and his loved ones,” he said.
Athibohol/Hadado Ward Abdirashid Mumin celebrated the return of his colleague.
In a Facebook post, Mumin thanked Allah aTolfiyore Muslim Ummah for constantly praying for the safety of the Tolfiyo.
“All praise to Allah! Our brother, Hon. Yussuf Hussein Ahmed, has safely made it back home. We sincerely thank the Almighty,” Mumin said.
“Deep appreciation to the Muslim Ummah for their relentless prayers. At last, our prayers have been answered by the Almighty.”

Tolfiyo’s Death Rumors
In October 2024, there were claims that Tolfiyo had been killed after a body had been found in Lake Yahud.
However, two DNA tests done by a private pathologist showed that the body recovered was not that of Tolfiyo.
The family said that a private pathologist confirmed that the results were both negative.
Bob Njagi’s Revelation
In February 2025, activist Bob Njagi, who was also a former abductee, alleged that he was locked up in the same location as the missing Wajir MCA.
He claimed that the MCA was brought into the facility on the night of Friday, September 13, 2024.
Further, Njagi said the Wajir MCA was still alive when he was released.
