Morocco is set to open their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign on December 21, 2025, against Comoros at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, with kick-off scheduled for 22:00 East Africa Time.
The fixture marks the first Group A clash for both sides as the tournament gets underway.
The Atlas Lions enter the contest as one of the continent’s top-ranked teams, holding 17 consecutive competitive matches without defeat.
Ranked 11th globally by FIFA, Morocco is widely tipped to progress deep into the competition and win the prize.
Their squad features established names such as goalkeeper Yassine Bounou and captain Romain Saïss, alongside emerging talents like Brahim Díaz and Ismael Saibari.
However, coach Walid Regragui will be without key full-back Achraf Hakimi, who is recovering from injury, and midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, who is also sidelined.
Comoros, ranked 108th in the world, arrived with a reputation for determination and tactical discipline, which enabled them to qualify for the tournament.
The Coelacanths, led by experienced midfielder Youssouf M’Changama, will rely on a compact defensive structure and quick transitions to challenge Morocco’s dominance.
Their attacking threat is expected to come from Faiz Selemani and Rafiki Said, who have been instrumental in recent AFCON 2025 qualification matches.
The match will be broadcast across multiple platforms, including SuperSport in Africa, beIN Sports in the United States, and Channel 4 in the United Kingdom. Fans worldwide can also access live streaming through official tournament partners.
