Bamburi Cement emerged victorious at the 17th Sustainability, Enterprise, and Responsibility Awards (SERAS) CSR 2023 held in Lagos, Nigeria.
In the event that took place on Friday, December 15, Bamburi took home two prestigious awards for their dedication to innovation and impactful storytelling.
The cement maker scooped the ‘Deborah Leipziger Africa for Innovation Award’ and ‘Best Company in the Use of Storytelling Award’.
Nonetheless, the firm’s commitment to pushing boundaries in sustainable building solutions was recognized with the ‘Deborah Leipziger Africa for Innovation Award’.
The award celebrated Bamburi Cement’s efforts in developing green construction materials that contribute to a better future for the industry.

The ‘Deborah Leipziger Africa for Innovation Award’, recognizes exceptional commitment to innovation.
Furthermore, their exceptional use of storytelling to champion sustainability earned them the ‘Best Company in the Use of Storytelling Award’.
This recognition highlights Bamburi Cement’s ability to effectively communicate their sustainability goals through compelling narratives, fostering understanding and support among stakeholders.

Further, commenting on this milestone, Bamburi Cement Managing Director Mohit Kapoor emphasized the company’s unwavering commitment to embedding sustainability throughout its operations.
He pointed to their latest sustainability report as evidence of their decarbonization efforts with “sustainable products and services that deliver the quality Bamburi is known for, with zero carbon emission to the environment.”
“These awards come at a time when we have declared our commitment to embedding sustainability throughout our business. As evidenced in our latest sustainability report, we have embarked on decarbonisation with sustainable products and services that deliver the quality Bamburi is known for, with zero carbon emission to the environment,” he said.
Besides, Kapoor’s leadership in driving Bamburi Cement towards sustainability excellence was further acknowledged with his First Runner-up position in the CEO of the Year 2023 category.

Responsible Business Practices
Similarly, Jane Wangari, Bamburi Cement’s Geocycle and Sustainability Director, was recognized as the First Runner-up in the Africa Sustainability Professional of the Year 2023 category, amplifying her dedication to sustainability on a continental scale.
The company’s commitment to responsible business practices was further solidified by their Silver Award in the overall category of Most Responsible Business in Africa, scoring an impressive 75 points.
Additionally, Wangari underscored the company’s immense pride in receiving the continental awards, seeing them as an endorsement of their unwavering commitment to sustainability and social responsibility across their entire value chain.
