A family in Ndindiruku village, Kirinyaga County are now mourning the death of their loved one after a 17-year-old girl killed her father in a quarrel over supper.
The 17-year-old stabbed her father, Justus Mutiso, 34, in the chest on Sunday, October 23 night.
Moreover, he was rushed to Kimbimbi Sub-County Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to witnesses, the deceased wanted to discipline his Form Two daughter over alleged unruly behavior before the tragic incident that led to his death occurred.
Furthermore, reports say that Mr Mutiso arrived home at 10.30pm and found his wife Magdalene Muthoni had left for prayers at a nearby church. He then asked his daughter to serve him supper, but she refused, saying it was not one of her domestic duties.
Her defiance angered Mr Mutiso, who attempted to whip her. The 17-year-old escaped and ran to church to report the matter to her mother, who then left the prayer meeting and returned home with her daughter to serve her husband supper.
Later that same night, Mr Mutiso accused his daughter of indiscipline and vowed to cane her. When he confronted her, the girl in defense grabbed a kitchen knife and shoved it in her father’s chest, sending him to the floor.
Mr. Mutiso’s neighbors who came to witness what happened found him unconscious and rushed him to the hospital where he unfortunately died on arrival.
In addition, police officers who were tipped on the incident rushed to the crime scene and arrested the 17-year-old. She is presently held at Wang’uru Police Station for questioning.
Furthermore, Mwea East police boss Daniel Kitavi noted that the case was being treated as a murder and that the form two student will face a capital charge once detectives complete their investigations.
Nevertheless, the girl’s mother stated that the disagreement could have been resolved amicably.
