Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has broken his silence after word went round that he fled the country amid investigation by police over corruption allegations.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, March 1, Dunstan Omari, the lawyer to Matiang’i said the former CS was out of the country attending urgent family affairs.
Omari said Matiang’i flew out of the country on February 19 to the United Kingdom through Denmark.

“There is nothing sinister about his travel. He is there to attend to an urgent private family matter and shall return to resume his ordinary routine as a private citizen,” Omari said.
The whereabouts of the former tough Cabinet Secretary were unknown on Tuesday after sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and their counterparts from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) summoned him for questioning.
