Time Magazine has named American pop superstar, Taylor Swift as the 2023 person of the year.
The singer emerged top of the list consisting of nine participants.
Some of the other contesters included King Charles, Open AI CEO, Sam Altman, Chinese President Xi Jinping and former U.S President Donald Trump’s prosecutors.
Notably, the Time magazine honor started in 1927 where editors choose an individual who has most shaped the headlines over the previous 12 months, whether for good or bad.
Consequently, Time magazine also clarified on why they chose her over other big names.
“While her popularity has grown across the decades, this is the year that Swift, 33, achieved a kind of nuclear fusion: shooting art and commerce together to release an energy of historic force,” Time magazine stated.
This recognition by Time magazine adds another feather to Taylor’s cap, after music streaming platform, Spotify named her the top global artist in 2023.
