The government has released Sh16.73 billion for the Inua Jamii Programme.
The deputy president Rigathi Gachagua made the announcement stating that the money will be used to pay more than one million beneficiaries enrolled in the programme.
“We remain firm in our commitment to supporting the most vulnerable members in society,” he said.
Gachagua further stated that Sh11.2 million will be topped up to cater for beneficiaries under the Nutrition Improvement through Cash and Health Education (NICHE) complimentary programme.
The programme provides a bi-monthly stipend to cushion beneficiaries from poverty and vulnerabilities for improved livelihoods.
“The funds will be credited to the accounts of 1,072,226 Inua Jamii beneficiaries,” he said.
“Each beneficiary will receive Sh16,000 for four payment cycles. Every Kenyan deserves to live a dignified life.”
