The Salaries and Remunerations Commission (SRC) on Wednesday, August 9 announced salary increments for Civil Servants in a new review.
In the new review, Civil Servants will now get a pay rise of between 7 percent to 10 percent.
While speaking during a press conference, SRC chairperson Lyn Mengich noted that the salary increment will be backdated to July meaning the increment will take effect from July 1,2023 to July 1, 2024.
Furthermore, President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua will not get any pay rise in the 2023/24 salary increment for public and state officers.
The Head of State’s salary will remain at Ksh 1.44 million whereas DP Gachagua’s salary will stick at Ksh. 1.22 million.

The proposal also wanted the President to earn Ksh.1.54 million and the DP to earn Ksh.1.36 million.
Cabinet Secretaries will have their salaries increased to Ksh. 957,000 from Ksh. 924,000.
However, this increment for cabinet secretaries is lower than the amount proposed by SRC, which would have seen them receive a monthly salary of Ksh. 990,000.
Mengich further revealed that the National Treasury had allocated Ksh. 21.7 billion for the financial year 2023/2024.
Furthermore, the SRC boss noted that most state corporations will be frozen because they are at an average of 89th percentile.
