Trade, Investments, and Industry Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria says he will “flatten” structures erected by squatters occupying the East African Portland property in Athi River.
Kuria says that the squatters are hampering plans to expand the company and realize its full potential.
The CS wants the squatters to start vacating as early as possible.
Kuria says should they fail to heed the caution he will have to apply force.
“I will come here, fence the land that has not been grabbed, and flatten those structures, make no mistake, muanze kuhama.
“So instead of flattening them please start moving tonight,” said CS Kuria.
“Emotions tuweke kwa handbag, we are going to develop our land productively, we will use our land to create jobs and generate foreign exchange.
“We have the plan to utilize the land in question by constructing the first Kenya cargo airport. We will not be the laughing stock of the world then we start smiling with squatters.”

He clarified that the government is still committed to serving Kenyan hustlers, including squatters, but not at the expense of a few who impede the plans to foster the economy.
“Nobody understands hustlers better than us, we are the original hustlers, they are the ones I want to give jobs to,” said Kuria.
“I know you are an irresistible force but in me you will find an immovable object.
“I want NYS to start digging trenches here”.
CS Kuria says he will not allow even a centimeter of Portland land will be grabbed.
