Returning officers countrywide are expected to start streaming in at the national tallying center at Bomas of Kenya today to deliver presidential results declaration forms.
Moreover, 290 Returning Officers are expected to deliver Form 34B.
Form 34B is the collation of results across the polling station at the constituency level.
Furthermore, IEBC is supposed to start the verification exercise of votes cast in the general election.
The electoral body has set in place five stations in the national tallying center to facilitate the process at the presence of the presidential agents for the four presidential candidates.
Nonetheless, IEBC is constitutionally bound to declare the results of the presidential election within seven days.
Likewise, Wafula Chebukati on Tuesday, August 9 night launched the result transmission phase.
This exercise precedes verification of results received from all the 46 229 polling stations nationwide.
Similarly, as of 9.00am, the electoral commission had received 46,132 form 34As – presidential results from the polling station – equating to 99.79 per cent.
Meanwhile, IEBC noted that they would only begin verifying the results once they have received all the forms 34A and 34B.
“We will wait for all the 290 constituencies to deliver all the forms and begin checking and verifying them,” Chebukati said.
Moreover, the verification exercise involves checking whether the data captured on form 34A correspond with those tabulated in form 34B.
The process of verifying and tallying votes is rigorous. Thence it is expected to take days.
In addition, the commission chairman Wafula Chebukati urged Kenyans on Wednesday to be patient, keen to avoid rigging allegations that have haunted previous polls.
Nevertheless, the commission chair disclosed that some incomplete form 34Bs of different regions had been uploaded on the portal.
According to the Commission, nearly 14.2 million voters participated in the polls. However, there was a 65.4 per cent voter turnout derived from the Kenya Integrated Management System (KIEMS) kits.

He further pointed out that the final voter turnout figure will be compiled after reconciling the number of voters whose identity was captured using the manual register.
“The voter turnout is based on verifying the KIEMS kits, which were functional during the voting process,” Chebukati stated.
