King Kaka, born Kennedy Tarriq Ombima, and formerly known by the stage name Rabbit or Kaka Sungura, is a prominent Kenyan rapper, songwriter, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and content creator.
Born on May 7, 1987, in Nairobi’s Eastlands neighborhood and is of the Luo tribe in Kenya.
He grew up in challenging circumstances after losing his father at a young age, which deeply influenced his music and family values.
He is the founder and CEO of Kaka Empire.
King Kaka and his then partner, Nana Owiti, with whom they have 3 children, announced their separation in December 2024 after careful consideration, emphasizing amicable co-parenting.

King Kaka attended St. John’s Primary School for his early education and Eastleigh High School for secondary school levels, where his passion for hip-hop blossomed.
He graduated with a degree in accounting from KCA University, which was formerly Kenya College of Accountancy.

King Kaka rose to fame in the late 2000s with his storytelling style, blending Sheng, Swahili, and English.
In 2012, he released his debut album, Tales of Kaka Sungura, featuring hits such as “Jam Nakam” and “Dodoma.”
In 2019, Kaka released a controversial track that led to his breakthrough, ‘Wajinga Nyinyi,’ which was famous for criticizing corruption and dirty politics.
King Kaka has had collaborations both internationally and locally.
In 2025, he released tracks like “UmeChange,” “Shit You Like” featuring Scar Mkadinali, and “Monk,” while attending the BET Awards as a VIP guest, making history as the first Kenyan artist to hold that role.
King Kaka’s Business and Ventures
He is the founder and CEO of Kaka Empire, a multimedia empire including a record label, clothing line ‘Niko Kwa Jam Nakam’, as well as ‘Kaka Klothing launched in 2012, and a purified water brand, Majik Water, that was launched in 2015.
King Kaka has also worked in the film industry, directing films such as Monkey Business, which premiered in 2024.

In 2025, King Kaka partnered with Bio Foods and launched a cooking show, Let Him Cook.

For 13 years, King Kaka had been in a high-profile relationship with media personality and content creator Nana Owiti, a couple admired by many. Still, the couple announced their separation in December 2024 after careful consideration, emphasizing amicable co-parenting.
The two share three children, two biological and one adopted.
In 2025, King Kaka addressed co-parenting, noting that they had moved past bitterness. In November 2025, he penned an emotional tribute marking 25 years since his father passed away, dedicating a song, “Baba” that featured fellow musician Elani.
