Popular Comedian Eric Omondi has clarified the confusion surrounding the location of a schoolgirl captured in a video crossing a flooded river on a wooden bridge.
Omondi made the clarification following an outcry from a group of residents who claimed that the comedian had initially been misled in identifying the wrong location.
The comedian confirmed that he was indeed first misled but has since found the correct location and the girl captured in the original video.
Speaking on Wednesday, January 17 at the exact location, Omondi added that plans to build a new bridge were already underway.
He also vowed to build a bridge at the first location he was directed to.
“We found the original bridge, but we will still build the other bridge as well because they also need it,” he said.
This comes days after the comedian made an appeal to Kenyans for help after sharing a video of a young schoolgirl crossing a flooded river on a wooden bridge.
Omondi Appeals to Kenyans
Sharing the video on his social media platform on January 13, Omondi asked Kenyans to help him trace the girl.
“I am looking for this girl, we have to save her. We will bring her and her family to Nairobi. She will never cross this bridge of death again,” he said.
The comedian further went on to ask whoever recognized the exact location to comment or send him the location.

Later on, January 16, Eric announced that he managed to trace the location in Nyakumbatia, Kisii County.
He went on to launch a fundraising campaign online, asking Kenyans to start sending funds that would be used in the construction of a new bridge.
“It’s just a matter of time before the bridge collapses into tragedy. We are going to build this bridge today! Start sending whatever you can,” he appealed.
However, following the revelation, a group of residents came out to claim that the comedian was misled, and in turn finding the wrong location.
Through a video, the group of men noted that the bridge was not the exact one captured in the video.
This led to a confusion among Kenyans online as the comedian had already initiated a fundraising campaign for the first location in Nyakumbatia.
Kenyans Ask Omondi to Save The Entire Village
While acknowledging Omondi’s willingness to help the girl, a section of Kenyans challenged the comedian to instead help the entire community and build a bridge at the location.

Nanaa Nyaga, a social media user urged Omondi to mobilize funds and build a bridge, which will save more children.
“Instead of saving this one girl and her family, why don’t we save more children by building a bridge. We believe in you Eric. Mobilize us and we will come through,” she said.
Many Kenyans further called on Eric Omondi to use his influence and organize for the construction of the bridge.
The vocal comedian is known for his philanthropic acts and has in many times mobilized for fundraising campaigns through his social media platforms to assist those in need.
