The much-anticipated Tukutane Festival has been cancelled.
The event which was to be headlined by Nigerian songstress Tems was cancelled after the musician took to Twitter to inform her Kenyan fans about the cancellation.
In a tweet seen by The Kenya Times, Tems said she will not be able to perform because of issues beyond her control.
“Hey Kenya. Honestly, it is quite heartbreaking to say this but I will not be able to perform at the Tukutane Festival due to circumstances beyond my control. I am as disappointed as you all are but I look forward to coming and giving you a show that you deserve. Love you all.” Tems tweeted.
Her communication disappointed many of her Kenyan fans who were looking forward to her thrilling performance.
Well, to lay everything bare, the organisers of the event, Tukutane Entertainment responded to Tems’ tweet by exposing her management as cons.
In an official statement shared on Tukutane Entertainment social media pages, the organisers confirmed the cancellation but somehow revealed the reason behind it.
According to the organisers everything was smooth as planned but were shocked when Tems’ management stopped cooperating.
The organisers noted they had paid Tems her full amount 15 days prior to the concert and that was the start of their cat and mouse games.

It was revealed that Tems management informed them that the musician was no longer comfortable coming to Kenya and that she did not even want to perform for her Kenyan fans.
“As at three days ago, all was going according to schedule and plan. We paid for Tems in full 15 days before the performance date and to our surprise, as soon as the payment was made, her manager mentioned that she is no longer comfortable coming to Kenya and just does not want to perform for her Kenyan fans. We were shook, heartbroken and financially wounded,” read part of Tukutane Entertainment statement.
The organisers asked people who had paid to remain calm as they will duly be refunded.
They also assured Kenyans they will announce dates for yet another festival, either by Tems herself or another foreign musician.
