The Kenya meteorological department has listed some of the regions expected to receive rainfall or experience dry conditions during the month of February.
In a statement on February 1, the weatherman announced that regions around the Lake Victoria basin, the Central and Southern Rift Valley and the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, will see sporadic rainfall that is probably going to be cumulatively above average.
Some parts in the Coast, and the South-Eastern Lowlands are aslo expected to receive the rains in February.
In terms of temperature, the weatherman explained that some parts of the country would experience dry conditions.
It stated that the highest average daytime temperatures of more than 30 degrees Celsius will hit parts of the Coast region, North-eastern and North-western Kenya.
The hot conditions, according to the announcement, will also apply to some parts of the South-Eastern lowlands and the Highlands West of the Rift Valley.
A few areas in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley will experience low average nighttime (minimum) temperatures of less than 10 degrees.

According to the department, temperatures in the southeastern lowlands are expected to remain normal.
Kenya met department gives updates on El-Nino
In a weather outlook report on Wednesday, November 1, the weatherman reported that most parts of the country were expected to continue receiving above average rainfall for the next three months.
The rains, according to the report, were to be driven by the previously predicted El Nino conditions and the positive Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD).

Kenyan situation before the 2023 EL-Nino
The latest weather outlook came after months of enhanced rainfall experienced in various parts of Kenya due to the El Nino phenomenon.
Heavy rains pounded parts of Kenya in the period between October and December 2023 and left devastating effects including deaths of people and animals.
Prior to the rains, the country had experienced a severe drought due to the failure of four consecutive rainy seasons.
In a statement on November 17, 2023, Kenya Red Cross announced that over 4.35 million faced severe food insecurity.
