Kenya African National Union (KANU) chairman and former Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has poured a touching tribute to his late sister, June Moi.
While attending a Sunday service in celebration of his late sister at Kabarnet Gardens, Nairobi, Gideon said he cherishes the moments shared as a family and as siblings.
“We know our sister is in a better place. She is at home, she is with her family and with her maker,” Gideon Moi said.
The KANU National Chairman described his sister June as a jovial and outgoing.
“June was a jovial soul, full of life and outgoing. We celebrate the moments we shared as a family and continue to honor her memories. We dedicate her soul to the Lord and pray that she rests in eternal peace,” he said.
The service brought together close family members, friends, and various leaders who gathered to pay their last respects ahead of June’s burial on Thursday 18 April in Bahati, Nakuru County.
June Moi’s Death
June Chebet Moi died on 11th April 2024 aged 60 years.
Her death was confirmed by the family spokesman expressing deep sadness and requesting privacy for the family during this time of grief.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing on of our beloved, June Chebet Moi this morning. At this time of grief, we request for your prayers and privacy as we the family come to terms with the tragic loss of our sister. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” the family spokesman said.
June Moi, the youngest daughter of the late President Daniel Arap Moi, lived a life shrouded in both wealth and mystery.
The late President Moi, who ruled Kenya from 1978 to 2002, had a total of eight children, seven biological and one adopted.
June, his last-born daughter, stood out among them, as she was adopted by the former head of state himself.

Reports also indicate that June held a special place in her father’s heart, alongside her brother Gideon Moi, who followed in their father’s political footsteps.

Although the Moi family is prominent in Kenya’s political circles, June opted for a more private life, focusing on her business ventures in land, property agency, and development.
However, in his biography, Moi mentioned that June and Gideon were the only children in his family who publicly supported him.
June completed her early education at Nairobi Primary and Kenya High School before pursuing further studies in Canada, where she honed her entrepreneurial skills.
