President William Ruto on Wednesday, October 12 met the Indonesian Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani at State House, Nairobi.
Moreover, in a statement shared online by State House following the meeting, the head of state expressed optimism towards increased trade between Kenya and the Southeast Asian country.
“President @WilliamsRuto said the cordial relations enjoyed between the two countries must be expanded for the benefit of the people. Kenya, is keen on adding value to its products that are exported to Indonesia,” Read the statement by State House.
President Ruto also noted that he looks forward to growing trade and expanding investment to Indonesia.
Nonetheless, statement further noted the Indonesian speaker’s commitment to strengthen partnerships between the two countries.
“Dr. Maharani said Indonesia will advance its partnership with Kenya in training, knowledge transfers and capacity building.” The statement further read.
Meanwhile, the partnership between the two countries will see Kenya exports tea, coffee, vegetables, and leather to Indonesia. moreover, data from Trade Economics Kenya state that the country’s imports from Indonesia was US$405.11 million in 2021.
Additionally, animal, vegetable fats and oils, and cleavage products import value stood at US$324.79 million during the 12-month period.
