According to Nyong’o, the visit to the region, scheduled to begin on Friday, October 5, was way overdue.
Nyong’o called on Ruto to help build the Moi stadium to meet the international standards adding that the region produced talents in the Kenyans soccer team.
“We welcome his excellency the president to Kisumu County. It is an overdue visit really. We have a lot to talk about in terms of development,” Nyong’o stated.

“This region is a soccer playing region, so I think that in order to encourage the talent as a national talent, we need to build Moi international stadium to international standards. I want to talk with the president about it,” he added.
Orengo Praises Ruto’s Development Agenda in Siaya
On his part, Orengo appreciated the development projects initiated by Ruto in Siaya County making reference to the establishment of a rice mill in the county.
According to Orengo, the mill, which was already under construction, will be of benefit to both the residents of Siaya County and the Residents of Busia County.
“The last time the president was here we had asked the national government to give us aid in the construction of a rice mill which is ongoing.
“Phase one of it is complete and it will serve both Busia and Siaya county. The people of Busia and Siaya have been using brokers to take the rice paddy to Uganda for milling and I think it is a shame on our part,” Orengo stated.

Gladys Wanga’s Message to Ruto
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga also called on the Head of State to support the construction of a pier. Wanga explained that the pier would enhance transportation in the region and boost economic activity in Homa Bay.
“One of the projects the president will be coming to ground break is the Homabay pier project which is being done by the Kenya ports Authority and that is something he had spoken about in January.
“It will allow ships that leave Kisumu to find docking places around the region before they head out to Uganda and maybe Tanzania,” she stated.
