Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have recovered KSh9 million, part of the money stollen during the Wells Fargo heist.
In a statement shared on Sunday, November 12, the directorate noted that that it had also arrested four suspects in connection with the case
Further, the statement indicated that DCI was now going after the remaining bit of the Ksh 94 million that was yet to be recovered.
Notably, the suspects had escaped with ksh94 million that was loaded from Quickmart supermarket and was meant to be transported to Family Bank.
“DCI Officers from Nairobi in pursuit of the Ksh94,918,750 stolen from Quickmart Supermarket on Nov 6, 2023,” the statement read in part.

DCI Details of Arrest of Wells Fargo Suspects
At the same time, the directorate revealed that the driver of the truck that was used in the heist and later dumped in South C was arrested in Rongai area.
“Ismael Patrick Gitonga, the owner and driver of motor vehicle registration number KBM 751W Fielder suspected to have been used to ferry the stolen cash from the escort van, was arrested within Rongai area and the motor vehicle traced to Njiru within Kayole,” added the statement.
On the other hand, two other suspects were arrested in Njiru area while making modifications to a vehicle that had been used in the escape.
Likewise, the fourth suspect was arrested in Kasarani area in possession of Ksh9 million in his rental house.

“Michael Matolo Njeru and Samwel Onyango were arrested in Njiru while in the process of modifying the vehicle to conceal its identity,” DCI noted
“Martin Nderi Nganga was arrested in Kasarani and Ksh9,101,300 recovered at his rented house,” DCI explained,” the statement further added.
Other Items Recovered from the Suspects
Similarly, the officers recovered a box full of cash at a forest in Karen Estate located close to Gataka Market.
The suspects remained in custody awaiting arraignment in court.
“Also recovered was a cashbox at a forest next to Gataka Market in Karen Estate. Efforts to trace, arrest and recover the remaining stolen cash continue.
“The case is Pending Before Court, as Regional Criminal Investigations Office Nairobi continues with investigations,” noted DCI.
